TRADITIONS

CALTABELLOTTA, THE CRIB-TOWN:

The living Christmas Crib staged in the caves of this village is the representation of the entire tradition and a gift for all our memories to go back to the past with our five senses

SAN GIUSEPPE:

The religious feast of Saint Joseph is celebrated on March 19 every year with a procession along the streets of the village, from the Carmine church to follow the same itinerary of other processions

"LI FIMMINI" FEAST:

Is celebrated at the end of march to thank the “SS Crocifisso Dio Vivo” and Mary of the Miracles in memory of the rain miracle witnesses on March 27, 1957

EASTER WEEK:

A rich programme is organised for the Holy Week: from Thursday with "Li Sibulichi", Holy Friday’s procession and Easter with Saint Michael

SANTA RITA:

Celebrated on May 22, where a procession starts with the female devotees carrying on their shoulders the sacred image of the woman saint

FEAST OF ST. MARY:

The Madonna of the Miracles has been venerated in Caltabellotta since 1601, when she was proclaimed the patron saint of the village

FEAST OF SAN PELLEGRINO:

Caltabellotta preserves a good memory of its own past and this is demonstrated by the feast that is organised to celebrate its patron saint, San Pellegrino, with a cattle market held on August 18

FEAST OF THE LIVING GOD:

This religious feast is celebrated every second week of September with a procession that starts from the Capuchin church and goes along the main streets of the village

FESTA DELL'IMMACOLATA:

This feast is held every year on December 8 to honour the Virgin Mary. At the end of the religious procession a bonfire is lit called "rogo di lu diavulazzo"

SANTA LUCIA:

Saint Lucy is celebrated every December 13 in the church of Sant'Agostino, where a statue of the saint is placed on the altar and the Mass is totally devoted to her
